The barn at Ticklebelly Hill has been standing for at least 150 years. Although they are unsure of the exact age, they do know the property was owned by the Berry Family from the first land transfer until 2012. The property was a working farm, with the most recent farmer working in the dairy industry. Many local people have great memories of playing in the haylofts of the barn, and remember Clydesdale horse on the property as well. In the Spring of 2013 they started renovations to the barn, and through the Summers of 2013 and 2014, the barn changed from a storage place for hay and machinery to the wedding venue they envisioned. 2015 was the first full season for weddings and events, and they now host about 25 weddings per year.

The name "Ticklebelly Hill" was inspired by the fact that the homestead stands on the top of a hill. This hill in particular is known in the region as one you can drive up and over, and get that feeling of butterflies in your stomach, or a "ticklebelly".

Although the venue can be used to celebrate or host any kind of gathering, the vast majority of events are weddings. When a couple books the barn, they also have access to the property which includes a private outdoor ceremony site, bonfire pit, a large furnished deck and wooded areas for amazing photo opportunities. They also provide lawn games and aim to create a relaxing space that embodies the best of rural New Brunswick. It's the kind of space which has maintained the genuine homestead feel, with modern amenities like brand new washroom facilities, local craft beer on tap, and access to power where it's needed. Ticklebelly Hill aims to be the go to destination for stunning rural weddings. They also have the bonus of being close to beautiful St Andrews-by-the-Sea, and the world-famous Bay of Fundy.

When a couple books the property for their wedding day, they also have access the full day before and the morning after the wedding. This provides time to set-up, decorate, host a rehearsal and maybe even a rehearsal dinner. The Sunday morning for take-down is so appreciated as this means there is no rush on the night of their wedding to take down all their decor and clean up. The couple and their guests can walk away at the end of the night, knowing that nothing is expected of them until the next day. As well as the venue, property, all the furnishings and atmospheric lighting inside and outside, they also provide a fully stocked and staffed bar service. Bar options are numerous - clients can have a full cash bar, a full open bar, or something in between. They work with the clients to offer the bar service they would like for their guests. Have you seen their chandelier?! This stunning feature is a one-of-a-kind antique, which can't be found anywhere else.

Ticklebelly Hill prides themselves for incredibly fast response time. They make sure to inquiries within 24 hours, and, this service continues after the booking is made! They also try to make as small of an impact on the Earth as possible. They compost as much as they can, including flowers, greenery, and anything which can be composted from the caterers including lemon slices once the glasses are empty. They also recycle as much as possible, and use paper straws. Ticklebelly Hill hopes to install solar panels or wind turbines within the next 3 years.

Advice From Ticklebelly Hill

“As you start to book wedding vendors, ask those you hire for recommendations on other vendors. As New Brunswick is a "small community", your vendors will work with the same businesses over and over again. They will have a really good idea of the services offered by the best vendors, with great customer care. Most vendors will be happy to share this info, because we also want to work alongside the best!”

With over 100 weddings under their belts, they have the experience to make your celebration flow seamlessly. They look for ways to go above and beyond and pride themselves on being attentive, knowing how important your wedding day is.
