When I was wedding planning I honestly had no interest in wedding galas, expos etc. For some reason I literally thought it was like a scene from a movie where women pull each others’ hair out, in order to get The Dress off the sale rack. Luckily for me, I started writing a wedding blog and Weddings New Brunswick sent me on an adventure to a wedding expo in Moncton. I am actually very happy to report I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. In no particular order, here are my top 3 highlights.
People Actually Want To Talk About Your Wedding!!!
We all reach that point in wedding planning where people will openly roll their eyes and change the subject when you bring up your wedding plans. Do they not get that this takes up literally every extra moment of your waking existence ( and results in many sleepless nights)??? Wedding galas pair you with like-minded people, who not only want to hear your wedding plans, they are dying to hear them and share in tips and tricks! It's a very refreshing break from the sighs and eye rolls.
2. They Have Things You Didn’t Even Know You Needed
Despite your board of lists, of more lists, of things you need for your wedding on Pinterest, there are many things you’ll know nothing about (and hopefully will figure out before it’s too late!). Wedding expos are filled with professionals who eat, sleep and breath weddings. They are there to help you with the things you didn’t even know you needed help with.
3. It’s A Well Deserved -And Very Needed- Night Out
As fun as it is to watch Four Weddings and Say Yes To The Dress on a loop all weekend in your pjs, you NEED to leave your house at some point. A wedding gala is the perfect mix of a night out with friends, without skipping out on your wedding planning responsibilities. You can check some items off your wedding list AND have a drink or two (no, wine with your pjs/ tv loop does not count).
Have you attended a wedding gala or expo? What was your favorite part? Let us know by commenting on the blog link on the Weddings New Brunswick Facebook page.
Real talk, for me the wedding expo was a fun, refreshing night out. That’s just my experience. Don’t take my word for it. Come on out on March 3rd, at the Delta in Fredericton, and find out for yourself!
Looking forward to seeing you there,
Mrs. Hannah Chalifoux
