One of the joys of having a local magazine is that you get the inside scoop on local vendors. Today I present, for your consideration, the hotel I stayed in for the Big Day (and night). Not even sponsored. Just real talk.
Booking a Block
One consideration for your wedding you may overlook is accommodations for your guests. You will be surprised how many people think they will stay with you! To avoid that embarrassment, you should book a block of rooms at a local hotel and send the info out with your invitations. This way people know where they are ( and are not) welcome to stay. Booking a block of rooms also has the benefit of negotiable group rates. Weddings are expensive for the guests too! Saving them an extra little bit will be very appreciated.
How I Found The Perfect Spot
To add to the wedding stress, because you know, there’s not enough of that already, I had a vision in my mind of walking down a set of stairs for my first look. As a result I was narrowed down to three hotels that had acceptable staircases. One demanded that I guarantee the number of rooms and pay for them upfront, before the invites had even gone out! As if. The next was very kind but a bit more expensive than I wanted for my guests. The final was just right!
Residence Inn Moncton
The hotel itself is amazing. Not only did it offer me the best deal, each room was a suite to boot! There was a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, and bathroom in their BASIC room. Somebody needs to explain the meaning of basic because this is not my experience, at all! I’ve literally seen hotels with a toilet in the open room or a toilet down the hall! I dunno which is worse!
The staff is amazing. Of course you expect all hotel staff to be friendly and accommodating but they went above and beyond. The people at the front desk took a special interest in my Big Day. They swooned over my dress. They were beyond accommodating with all my other vendors coming and going to my room. They remembered my new last name AND called me by it the next day. I don’t even remember my new last name half the time! They let me take over their lounge for pictures and even moved furniture to get the best photos. Honestly, they really got the whole “this is my (our) day, and I (we) needed it to be perfect” thing.
The Place To Be
I could go on and on about how amazing they are. I also had my bachelorette party there (check it out on the blog), and they donated a gift certificate to my work for a fundraising auction. This place is literally the best. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with your stay at Residence Inn Moncton.
